Fancy beautiful lawn!

A healthy and beautiful lawn needs three things. Regular cutting, water and, above all, fertilizer to ensure a sufficient supply of nutrients.

Unfortunately, the fertilizer requirements of lawns are always greatly underestimated, as the myth that lawns can get by on what the climate and weather provide is persistent. However, a square metre of dense lawn has several thousand individual blades and each of these blades has roots that are looking for nutrients. Uniform fertilizer does not fall from the sky :-) . It is therefore only logical that nutrients should be supplied through fertilizer applications.

Whenever possible, use long-term lawn fertilizers - these give the lawn the optimum nutrient supply and automatically reduce weeds and moss by stimulating growth. It is therefore best to fertilize 3 - 4 times a year (once in early spring, once at the beginning of June and once at the end of August and a potash-rich fertilization for the winter at the end of October/beginning of November).

Fertilizer for professionals

We recommend the latest generation of mineral-organic fertilizers for areas that need to have a uniform green appearance particularly quickly, such as green spaces in public areas, sports fields, parks or lawns in swimming pools. On the one hand, they provide the lawn with rapidly available minerals immediately after application, but also with organic substances that are released more slowly in the long term. It is important to adhere precisely to the dosage and application recommendations.

We recommend so-called mineral-organic fertilizers of the latest generation. Pure mineral lawn fertilizers, such as those used for a long time (e.g. blue grit), are no longer up to date. On the one hand, production causes environmental problems, but mineral fertilized soil also loses quality in the long term and the grass is quickly over-fertilised.

We therefore recommend a branded product from Germany with a high organic content. This has the additional advantage that the lawn receives its nutrients when it needs them. The rapidly available nitrogen is absorbed for the immediate effect, while the organically bound nutrients, which are released by microorganisms in damp, warm weather - i.e. when the lawn can and should grow - ensure a long-term supply of nutrients.

DCM Vital Green:

Thanks to its balanced composition, this fertilizer perfectly meets the nutritional requirements of the lawn, its unique combination of directly absorbable and organic long-acting nutrients ensure immediate and sustained growth of the lawn.

  • An adapted potassium content ensures high tread resistance and good drought resistance
  • Magnesium and iron, in the form of iron chelate (EDTA), for a deep green grass colour.
  • Organically bound nutrients are gradually released over a period of 75 to 100 days by the micro-life in the soil and, depending on the needs of the lawn, provide
  • Continuous growth, without growth peaks and hardly any leaching losses

DCM Start:

This fertilizer is ideal for a quick start to growth in spring. It ensures a strong growth effect of the lawn, which closes quickly when reseeding, due to:

  • the high nitrogen content (18 % N)
  • the specific composition, due to both fast-acting and organic nutrients with a long-term effect
  • Contains additional magnesium for a deep green lawn
  • organically bound nutrients
  • are gradually released over a period of 75 to 100 days by the micro-life in the soil, depending on the needs of the lawn for continuous growth, without growth peaks and hardly any leaching losses
  • for a mild effect, therefore ideal for establishing a new lawn

Advantages of the Minigran formulation:

  • Small granules with a homogeneous composition
  • up to 60 % better fertiliser distribution for a homogeneous colour and balanced plant growth
  • Faster initial effect with consistent long-term effect
  • with easily absorbed organic phosphorus sources for better root formation
  • Low odour and practically dust-free distribution
  • Can be easily distributed with all dosing systems and professional fertiliser spreaders

For the home garden:

However, for private gardens, especially if there are animals and children in the household or if there are no professional gardeners or landscape gardeners to take care of the application, we have been recommending a natural fertilizer made from bio-effective plant substances for several years: MALTaflor® - a fertilizer that uses the malt germ of barley as its main ingredient.

MALTaflor

All ingredients are purely plant-based (no animal faeces, no horn meal), they promote soil life and humus formation. From our experience, we can confirm that plant-based fertilizers also release their nutrients slowly and in doses, ensuring a long-term effect and gentle nourishment of the lawn. By the way, did you know that most of our soils are well supplied with phosphate anyway, but mostly in a form that is not so easily bio- or plant-available - namely calcium phosphate. High-quality, natural fertilizers help to make this phosphate usable instead of simply adding more.

One of the many advantages of organic, natural fertilizers is that over-fertilization is not possible.

Organic lawn fertilizer should be applied from the end of February in winters with little snow and mild winters. Utilisation in the soil takes a little longer than with readily available mineral fertilizers, but lasts longer and is more sustainable, as soil life is also strengthened and humus is built up. In the long term, therefore, this is a decision that not only strengthens the plants but also strengthens the soil as a whole. And last but not least, many garden owners appreciate the fact that with natural fertilizer, the lawn remains usable and accessible to people and animals at all times.

So if sustainability is important to you and you want to build up healthy soil in the long term, you should give your lawn a little more time to become lush green in spring and opt for a purely organic fertilizer.
